FAQ-design

How can I get a custom project quote?
Please contact me to schedule a free consultation to discuss your unique design needs. There is a minimum design charge of $75 for all new projects.

How do I pay?
After our consultation I will prepare a proposal for our project. After you review and sign the proposal, a payment for the estimated expenses is required for commencement of project. Accrued balance is due at project completion, prior to the release of any files. Credit cards via Pay Pal and Checks are accepted.

How long will it take?
Once payment has been made and all necessary elements are provided by the client, project will be added to the design calendar. Client will be provided a start date and estimated timeframe for project completion.

Will I own the designs?
Once a paid invoice is received, final artwork is property of the client. DeVoe Creative reserves the right to use all designed materials for the purpose of marketing and promotion in any manner or any medium.

What happens with my design files?
Upon completion of your design project, you will be provided high resolution print and/or web files. Logo design clients will be provided EPS files. DeVoe Creative archives your design files for 90 days unless other arrangements have been made.

What is the difference between a design concept and a revision?
A revision is any minor change to the design such as color or font changes or minor adjustments to the layout. A concept is a whole new idea.

How do I provide my materials for the design project?
Please note that all text and imagery being provided by client MUST be supplied electronically. FTP, Email, Dropbox, etc. are all acceptable ways of forwarding your design materials. Print materials require high resolution photography. Client must have written permission to use copyrighted material. Don’t forget to spell check your text!

What is custom portraiture? How is it different than a portrait studio?
When going to a chain portrait studio, you will most likely feel rushed and have little input in the final product. With custom portraiture, I come to your home or another suitable location and work with you to get the results you desire. I find that young children are most comfortable at home or outdoors and the portraits reflect that. Sessions are never rushed and allow plenty of time for breaks and wardrobe changes. New parents also enjoy the luxury of having a photographer come to them while they are settling in at home as a new family. DeVoe Creative is well versed in newborn and child safety and will not attempt any requested poses that do not deem safe.

Do you only take child and family portraits?
I specialize in maternity, newborn, baby, child and family portraiture. I also offer commercial photography services that include professional head shots, location, product and service photography. I currently do not offer wedding or large event services.

Travel
I work exclusively on-location throughout the areas of Baltimore, Harford and Cecil Counties. I’m available to travel up to 40 miles from zip code 21015 for full photography sessions.

You are welcome to include special personal items in your portrait session. Please let me know in advance if you have any special requests for your session.

Do you provide images in b&w or color?
You will receive your digital images in both color and black & white.

If I buy the digital files do I own the copyright?
When purchasing digital files, you receive only the permission to print the files. Copyright remains with DeVoe Creative Photography & Design and the files cannot be used for commercial use, sold or edited in any way. (Commercial photography sessions offer commercial use)

Do you provide props, blankets and/or accessories for newborn sessions?
I prefer to use your personal items and environment for a more journalistic approach for newborn sessions. You are welcome to provide any props or accessories you wish to have included. Posing blankets are available upon request.
